Shooting Sports

Our shooting sports programs are designed as gateways for individuals — especially youth — into the world of shooting, hunting, and ultimately, conservation.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are committed to supporting the future of shooting sports as a tool to help ignite a passion for upland hunting and conservation. Our shooting sports programs are designed as gateways for individuals — especially youth — into the world of shooting, hunting, and ultimately, conservation.

When combined with organizational priorities and habitat mission drivers, chapter support for shooting sports can play a meaningful role in fostering the next generation of conservationists. However, it's essential that shooting sports remain part of a diversified mission portfolio — complementing habitat projects, advocacy, and other mission-based initiatives — rather than standing alone as a chapter's primary focus.

As part of our Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) strategy, we aim to introduce thousands of individuals annually to shooting sports through community-based programs and engaging events that connect participants to our broader conservation mission.

Why it Matters

Strong chapters have effective leadership and a clear mission focus. When shooting sports programs are paired with habitat work, youth outreach, and community engagement, they:

  • Spark chapter excitement and involvement

  • Provide pathways to recruit new volunteers and future leaders

  • Introduce new audiences to our hunting heritage and conservation ethic

  • Strengthen chapters, increase membership, and ensure more mission impact

Adopt-a-Team & Clays for Conservation

Clays for Conservation events are a fun, relaxed way to bring your community together at a sporting clays or trap range. They are ideal for introducing new people to your chapter, showcasing your conservation work, and building support from familiar faces and sponsors.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Raise money for wildlife habitat and conservation programs

  • Recruit and inspire the next generation of conservationists

  • Build an upland community and foster friendships

  • Have fun, earn bragging rights, and prepare for hunting season

Chapter Support

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever do not offer national scholastic shooting team grants because of our grassroots model, which empowers chapters to decide how locally raised funds are spent. Chapters may support local shooting teams as part of their diversified mission portfolio through:
