Introducing Habitat University
Welcome to Habitat University (HU), a new educational initiative presented by Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.

What is Habitat University?
Habitat University (HU) features free, self-paced, how-to courses online, sharing training and techniques specific to habitat establishment and management from principle to practice. The HU goal is simple: more and better-trained habitat managers putting quality upland habitat on the ground.
HU Students
Habitat University courses are designed to provide content appropriate for all types and experience levels of students including chapter leaders, volunteers, landowners, contractors, wildlife students, PF & QF staff and other wildlife professionals.
Content Organization
Individual HU courses take between 20 to 60 minutes to complete, and include practice quizzes to reinforce key learning along the way. Students earn completion certificates for each course completed.
Related courses are grouped into curriculum bundles. Once all related courses are completed, students earn digital badges for denoting their credentials on resumes and professional networking sites like LinkedIn. These students will be invited to attend in-person training workshops where they can practice and hone their newly acquired skills and network with peers across the conservation community.
Habitat University Launch and Spring Trimester
Habitat University held a soft launch at Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2026, where chapter volunteers, landowners and other conservation professionals visited with our HU training coordinator team and engaged with courses presented live on the Habitat Stage.
Today, Habitat University is open and enrolling students interested in improving upland wildlife habitat. Our inaugural first semester includes a dozen courses. New bundles of courses will be added each new semester, with a sprinkling of featured courses added randomly throughout the year to ensure students have opportunities to continue expanding their practical knowledge of habitat.
